Dollar-cost Averaging Calculator - With Dividend Reinvestment Option

Many buy-and-hold investors purchase shares of a stock at different times and prices as they accumulate shares to hold for many years. This form of recurring investment is called dollar-cost averaging because you average the costs of different purchases over time.

The Dollar-cost Averaging calculator computes the percent return for a series of recurring monthly investments for a specified stock and specified dollar investment amount. You may elect to include reinvested dividends in the computations.

The calculator lets you backtest different monthly investment amounts for different investing periods for any stock recognized by Yahoo! Finance.

See Help for the calculator's detailed computational procedures.

Simply enter any quote symbol, complete the rest of the form and click on the Calculate Returns button. In a few seconds the results will be displayed on a new page.
