Many Chinese Stocks are Available to U.S. Investors

Investing in the People's Republic of China offers investors the opportunity to participate in one of the world's most rapidly growing economies.

Many Chinese stocks are available to foreigners through exchange-traded funds, American Depository Receipts (ADRs) and mutual funds (not discussed in this article because of their high fees). See Seven Exchange-Traded Funds That Track Chinese Stocks for a list of Chinese ETFs.

Dozens of Chinese ADRs are traded on United States stock exchanges so you can create your own customized China portfolio. The following table lists over 30 major Chinese stocks traded on U.S. stock exchanges.

Many of these stocks are speculative so be careful with them.

NOTE: CEA, CHINA, CHL, CHU, CYD, HNP, PTR, SHI, SINA, SNP, SOHU, XING, YZC and ZNH are included in the portfolio value computations. The other stocks are excluded because of lack of price data.
