BancorpSouth Pays Increasing Dividends

BancorpSouth (BXS), a midcap Southeastern regional bank with conservative lending practices, has increased its cash dividends each year for the past 25 years. BXS will pay a $0.22 quarterly dividend on July 1, 2009 to shareholders of record as of June 15, 2009.

Its current dividend yield is 4.10 percent.

And BXS has consistently traded above its 10-year simple moving average (green line on chart below) for the period December 1995 through May 28, 2009. BXS avoided a stock price a meltdown because it never engaged in high-risk loans and investments.

BXS is an excellent candidate for a long-term dividend reinvestment portfolio.

I (RAH) do not own BXS.
