Atrion Corporation Increases Dividend 20 Percent

Atrion Corporation (ATRI), a medical devices company (cardiovascular, ophthalmic and fluid delivery products), has increased its quarterly cash dividend from $0.30 to $0.36, a 20 percent increase. The dividend is payable on September 30, 2009 to shareholders of record as of September 15, 2009.

ATRI has increased its dividend each year since 2003 when its dividend was $0.12.

Its current dividend yield is 1.10 percent.

ATRI is a very well managed company. It generates strong cash flows to ensure consistent growth and profitability, support ongoing R&D and fund capital improvements programs. It has a long record of stock repurchases and the company has no debt.

ATRI climbed from $21 in January 2003 to just over $129 by January 2008. The stock then fell to $64 by March 2009. As of the August 7, 2009, ATRI closed at $131.56, just off is all-time closing high of $134.99.
