Advanced Micro Devices is a Bumpy RideAdvanced Micro Devices (AMD), a semiconductor designer and manufacturer of microprocessors, flash memory devices, and embedded microprocessors, is on the price upside. After years of playing second fiddle to Intel (INTC), AMD has developed a very competitive and innovated product set and the stock price has reacted accordingly moving from $3.20 on October 2, 2002 to $25.20 as of September 30, 2005.
Currently, the price faces resistance at $25. AMD could go higher if its products continue to be well received. But if you intend to buy AMD, be prepared for a bumpy ride because it is an extremely volatile stock.
