These Dividend Yields Will Amaze You

The dividend yield of a stock is its annual dividend in dollars divided its current price. For example, a stock that pays a one dollar dividend, whose price is $20, has a yield equal to five percent.

A dividend yield increases when the dividend increases or the price of the stock falls. Currently, the yields of many financial stocks are up because the prices of these stocks have declined. As long as the company remains sound and the dividend remains intact, falling prices can represent a buying opportunity for investors looking for high yields.

But an increasing yield due to significant price declines, may signal fundamental problems with the company. In that case, higher that normal yields should be suspect because the company may eventually cut or eliminate its dividend.

Here are 15 stocks with yields from four to over 15 percent. buyupside.com does not specifically recommend any of these stocks; they were selected because of their relative high yields within their industry.
